From Market Stall to Market Leader

When Mama Salma walked into our Mwanza branch in early 2025, she had a single vegetable stall at Soko Kuu and a dream that most would call unrealistic. She wanted to become the largest fresh produce distributor in the Lake Zone. Eighteen months later, she's done exactly that.

The First Loan: TZS 2,000,000

Her initial loan was modest — TZS 2 million for bulk purchasing directly from farmers in Magu and Sengerema districts. By cutting out the middlemen, she immediately increased her margins by 35%.

"The difference between buying 50kg of tomatoes and 500kg is not just the price per kilo," Mama Salma explains. "It's the power to negotiate, to choose only the best quality, and to supply customers who need consistent volume."

Scaling: The Second and Third Injections

Within four months, she returned for a second loan of TZS 8 million. This funded a refrigerated storage unit — a game-changer in tropical produce. Spoilage dropped from 20% to under 3%.

The third loan of TZS 15 million financed a delivery truck and hired her first three employees. She could now guarantee next-morning delivery to restaurants, hotels, and supermarkets across Mwanza city.

The Empire Today

Mama Salma now operates three cold storage facilities, employs 14 people, and supplies over 60 commercial clients. Her annual revenue exceeds TZS 50 million — a 25x return on her first loan.

"Black Wolf didn't just give me money. They gave me speed. In this business, the one who can buy first, store best, and deliver fastest — wins."

Her story is a masterclass in strategic micro-financing: each capital injection was targeted, timed, and tied to a specific growth lever.
